I, Harper, love cantaloupe so this fruit Halloween treat is right up my alley! Norah doesn’t like cantaloupe that much, but she does like to eat the marshmallows and sometimes the blackberries – depending on the day.
We do love a good fruit snack. Have you ever tried our Easy Crinkled Watermelon Fries with Greek Yogurt Dip? Good stuff!
With just a few simple ingredients, we transform fresh fruit into adorable Halloween ghost treats that are sure to delight our friends and family.
Let’s dive into this spooktacular recipe that brings a healthy twist to Halloween treats!
Only 3 Ingredients and a Few Supplies
Ingredients for Fruit Ghost Skewers
- Cantaloupe
- Blackberries
- Large marshmallows (the big square shaped ones work well)
Supplies for These Cute Halloween Kabobs
- Bamboo skewers
- Food marker
- Melon baller scoop or ice cream scoop
For a fun twist, we like to use edible markers to create spooky eyes and mouths on the marshmallows, bringing our Halloween ghost fruit skewers to life!
The combination of these fruits not only adds a burst of flavor but also a vibrant array of orange, white, and black Halloween colors that will catch the eye of any kid or adult!
First, we start by cutting a cantaloupe in half. Then, we scoop out the meat of the cantaloupe with a melon baller. Then, we start threading a cantaloupe ball onto the skewer as the base, pulling it down toward the bottom. This juicy orange ball provides a delightful sweetness and a pop of color.
Next, we add a blackberry for a touch of tartness and to create an appealing Halloween contrast against the lighter colors of the marshmallow and cantaloupe.
Next, we follow the blackberry with a marshmallow, which serves as the ghost. Now, the marshmallows can get messy – leaving a sticky goo down the skewer as you slide it down. You can try to use a wet rag or paper towel to wipe this up before sliding on the next set of fruit. But, honestly, sometimes it is really hard to do get it all off. We just try to place the fruit over the mess as much as possible.
Keep going until you have threaded all the skewers.
These fruit ghost skewers for Halloween are not only easy to assemble but also make for a great activity to involve the kids in the kitchen. We love making these Halloween fruit kababs! And our mom loves that this is one Halloween treat without candy or too much excess sugar!
Tips for Fruit Ghost Skewers
- A melon baller scoop will give the cantaloupe more of a ball shape. The ice cream scoop will create half-balls.
