Time Well Spent at Parrot Island Waterpark in Fort Smith
Nothing is better time well spent on a sizzling summer day than a refreshing waterpark! Parrot Island Waterpark in Fort Smith offers a full day of adventure. This Fort Smith waterpark is hustling and bustling throughout the summer months, and there is no question why. After two years of begging our parents to take us there, we finally made it happen!
Our grandparents live in Fort Smith, and we consider Fort Smith one of our favorite Arkansas towns. There are a lot of things to do there. And we are so happy to finally have marked Parrot Island off of our list!
There is so much to do – whether you want to stay busy or just chill! With multiple pool areas, four large water slides, a lazy river, and other water play stations, Parrot Island is a place the whole family will love.
Pro Tip: Arrive as early as you can to find your perfect spot in the shade or the sun – whichever you prefer!
The Water Slides at Parrot Island Waterpark
The slides are different – based on curves and steepness. We liked the orange and the blue ones the best, but they were all fun. The red slide has a lot of curves to it, and the yellow slide has a big steep drop but not many curves.
Try them all out and see which one is your favorite!
Other Attractions at Parrot Island Waterpark
We like how there are different attractions based on ages for the kids. There is Turtle Island for the younger children to enjoy while the older kids and adults enjoy rotating through the other attractions. The families with younger kids seemed to hang out a lot at Turtle Island and another area that was for little ones.
The Runner
Even our dad got in on the action on the Runner! Norah tried it out, too. We’re not quite sure this family has the surfing genes or skills. But it was sure fun to try!
The Wave Pool
This one is one of our favorite spots at Parrot Island Waterpark! It’s so fun to see how long we can last without getting knocked down by a wave or without being moved too much. This wave pool has larger waves than some of the other waterparks do.
Crocodile Creek – Lazy River at Parrot Island Waterpark
My favorite was the lazy river – called Crocodile Creek. There was nice music playing while we floated along, and there were little showers of water along the way – which was refreshing!
Our mom, who rarely enjoys water activities, had a good time floating in Crocodile Creek, the lazy river at Parrot Island Waterpark.
We even got photographic evidence!
Food at Parrot Island Waterpark
With a fully stocked snack bar/restaurant, full of lunch and snack items such as quesadillas, pizza, chicken strips, nachos, and more, Fort Smith waterpark visitors won’t go hungry!
Some families were sitting at tables with whole pizzas. Other families had items by the individual serving.
We stuck with ice cream treats and LOTS of drinks! It was probably 95 degrees the day we took these pictures.
You will need to check out the Parrot Island website for operational hours during the opening days of mid-May through Labor Day. Typically, the waterpark opens at 10 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and closes at 7 p.m. during the summer months of June, July, and early August. On Mondays through Thursdays, the park is open from 11 a.m. to 6 pm. But always check first to be sure. Occasionally, you can find fun night-time events, also.
Not feeling like battling the hot Arkansas heat during the summer? Your family may be interested in hanging out at the Vertical Horizons Climbing Gym instead! And don’t forget to pop by Ed Walker’s Diner for some yummy classic eats!
