As we’ve mentioned before, we love a good chance to dress up! And we love our daddy! So it’s no surprise we get really excited every February for our community daddy daughter dance events. This year, we actually got to go to two daddy daughter dance events – one at a local community center and another at our school. We could have easily worn the first dress a second time…but what fun would that have been?

What is a Daddy Daughter Dance?
A daddy daughter dance is an event – often hosted by a school, a church, or a community center – that celebrates the father-daughter relationships. Dads are encouraged to bring their daughters (typically pre-school to elementary age) to a fancy night out with dressier-than-usual outfits and an evening of dancing, party foods, and fun. This daddy daughter dance event typically requires a fee for each duo. Therefore, the event operates as a way to raise money for the organization.
In recent years, it has become increasingly common to see the invitations for daddy daughter dances encouraging kids to bring their special father figure (grandfathers, uncles, etc.) so as not to exclude children who may not be close with their own fathers or may not have a father.
These events are often held around Valentine’s Day – late January through early March.

My favorite dress I wore this year is the blush pink rainbow tulle dress because I can spin in it. And I really like the rainbow colors in it. I love pink, and the dress that I wore had a lot of pink tones and a few other colors mixed in.
My dress was just a little bit big around the middle. But we tied the bow at my waist, and it was fine.

I wore the light blue rainbow party dress to the first daddy daughter dance night. It has sequins on the top and tulle on the bottom, but I did find the sequins a little itchy. We ordered my size and it was a tad big on me in the waist, so if you are buying this for your daughter, you might want to go down in size a little.
The dress really went with the theme of our dance. The dance had a DJ, disco lights, and the girls could really wear whatever they wanted to and still fit into the overall party theme. I thought my rainbow dress was perfect.

These rainbow party dresses are fun and cheery. They are best suited for a party with a more fun and bright theme. If you are shopping for your daughter’s event and you know it will have more of a formal and serious theme, you might want to save this rainbow tulle dress for a different occasion. I love these dresses for sisters because you can let your daughters pick out their favorite primary color. Therefore, the dresses will coordinate but can still fit to each child’s personality – my favorite way to go when matching sisters!

My other daddy daughter dance dress was this pink one that I wore to the second daddy daughter dance. It is pretty. The dress has flowers over the belly part of the dress. I felt like a princess in this dress. At our dance, we got princess crowns to wear which went well with my dress. I saw my friends at the daddy daughter dance, and we all wore our crowns.
This time we wore a corsage with our dresses.

My blue tulle dress was poofy, and it’s very cute. It comes in many different colors. The color blue is the color of my school mascot. I styled it fancily. We put jewelry with it and white high heels. The corsage added an extra touch.
I had fun with my two best friends at the dance.

This tulle blue party dress and pink party dress were affordable for mom’s wallet. In highsight, I think I should have steamed the bottom layer of the dress – underneath the tulle – because I noticed it was a bit wrinkled when we were taking photos just before the Hubs and the girls left for the dance. But all in all, this is a great dress with a budget-friendly cost.
Adding Faux Corsages and Boutonnieres
Usually, we support one of our local florists when it comes time for the daddy daughter dance. However, since we had two dances that were two weeks apart with some inclement weather predicted in the middle of the two, we decided to look into some faux corsages and boutonnieres. We waited too late to order and the shipment didn’t arrive in time for our first dance. But we had them in plenty of time for the second dance.
We ordered a white set so the silk corsages and boutonnieres would go with both daddy daughter dance outfit ideas that we had put together.
The corsages feature a faux pearl bracelet that were a little big for the wrists of an 8 year and a 10 year old. However, all it took was wrapping the strand of beads twice around the wrist, and it was a perfect fit!
