Let’s Glow, Ghouls Party: Halloween Birthday Sleepover
When your birthday falls near Halloween, there’s only one thing to do: throw a glowing, ghostly bash that’s part glam, part ghoulish, and totally unforgettable! This year, we celebrated with a Let’s Glow, Ghouls! themed sleepover full of disco ghosts, DIY décor, and plenty of snacks to keep the fun going late into the night for Harper’s 13th and Norah’s 11th birthdays!
Actually, we celebrated with this theme two different times since we each had our own sleepover with our own groups of friends. Usually, we have a big double party together since our birthdays are only two weeks apart. But this year Mom said we could separate our parties as long as we agreed on the same theme so she only had to do party set up and decorating once. These cute little disco ghost napkins helped us come up with our Let’s Glow, Ghouls! theme.

Setting the Scene: Disco Balls and Dancing Ghosts
Our party space was transformed into a glowing haunted disco! We had a custom banner that read Let’s Glow, Ghouls! featuring the cutest little ghosts and silver disco balls. The real showstopper was the mantle—decked out with two large DIY art canvases we wrapped in shiny silver paper, then covered with pink and black paper bats. Mom made this artwork based on a similar one she did for her disco murder mystery party this past summer.

We added even more sparkle with cute disco ghosts and pastel pumpkins (thank you, Amazon) plus a colorful string of ghosts and disco balls that pulled the whole look together. It felt like a haunted dance party ready for a midnight boogie!
Above the dirty soda bar station, we hung a custom banner with the Let’s Glow, Ghouls theme. Our mom found someone on Facebook Marketplace to make the banner.

Party Food and Snacks
No tween sleepover is complete without easy, crowd-pleasing snacks. We kept it fun and finger-food-friendly with:
- Chips and dip (classic must!)
- Pretzels and popcorn
- Pizza
- A few sweet treats to fuel the spooky fun

The Ghouls-Only Dirty Soda Bar
No doubt, our dirty soda bar was the big hit with everyone! We set up a soda station with a custom menu that read “Ghouls Only” for three Halloween dirty soda drinks. Guests could mix and match their own fizzy creations with flavored syrups, whipped cream, and ghost marshmallows.

Our three suggested themed recipes have fun Halloween-inspired names — perfect for this disco ghost vibe. Some guests wanted to create their own recipes, and that was perfectly fine! We just decided to only put three recipes on the menu to help fight against decision fatigue.
Readers can download our free printable Halloween Dirty Soda Bar Menu to recreate the same setup at home!

Treat-Making Station
Another fun part of our Halloween sleepover is that we made an assortment of no-bake Halloween treats with our friends! With a fresh batch of melted almond bark and some cute Halloween sprinkles, you can make all sorts of things!

We made our popular Nutella ghost cookies, Halloween pretzel bark, and more.

Sweet Party Favors: Disco Ghost Cookies
We worked with a local baker – Cookies by Jenna – to design our party cookies that also served as party favors: cute ghosts holding tiny pumpkins, peace signs, and disco balls. They looked almost too cute to eat (almost). The cookies matched our custom banner and décor perfectly, tying everything together!

Ghoulishly Good Fun
Between sips of spooky sodas, dance-offs under the disco lights, and watching Halloween movies in our PJs, our disco ghost Halloween sleepover theme turned out great!
If you’re planning your own Halloween birthday party, we can’t recommend this Let’s Glow, Ghouls! theme enough. With a mix of sparkle, spook, and sugar — it’s the perfect recipe for tween party magic.
