This fun dice game gets the adrenaline up for everyone involved! With it’s energizing music, the turbo machine really makes you feel like rolling the exact requirements on your challenge card is the most important thing in the whole world!
I (Mom) had this game before I ever had children. And, now, it’s a family favorite. Harper, at 10, and Norah, at 8, have both been playing Yahtzee Turbo for several years! It is so much fun, and it can be played relatively quickly with short rounds. Also, there is a more challenging method and an easier method for younger kids. Unfortunately, it seems Yahtzee Turbo is really hard to find on the market these days and is likely out of production. If you find one, grab it up! We will treasure ours!

“Yahtzee Turbo is a fun game for all ages. But maybe you need to focus on ages 5 and up because kids under five may not be able to keep up with the speed of the game. And sometimes kids younger than 5 try to eat the dice!”

Farkle is a fun dice game for families! We recieved our Farkle game from the grandparents a year or so ago, and it has been big fun for us. Each game takes about 30-40 minutes for us to complete, meaning that it is one the 8 year old can play without losing too much of her attention from it.
Our classic Farkle version comes with one set of dice and one rolling cup. This Farkle game on Amazon comes with six sets of dice and six rolling cups in different colors so that each family member can have his own set.

“Farkle is a lot of fun. You have to get multiple dice with the same numbers right. If you only get two dice with the same numbers, that doesn’t count. Mom has a problem with getting too many Farkles!”

LCR (Left Center Right) is a Quick Dice Game for Families
About seven years ago, I (Mom) was introduced to Left Center Right at my husband’s work Christmas party. On that occasion, the coworkers were playing LCR for cash winnings. It was loads of fun!
I later modified LCR for classroom play with a pile of leftover candy (originally purchased by me) as the “pot” of winnings. We played on the last afternoon before Christmas break when there was only a handful of students present. We had a blast with this version of LCR!
You can easily play LCR at home as a family dice game with whatever pot of winnings of your choosing. Maybe it’s that the winner wins a “skip chore” coupon or a “picker of the ice cream” card, etc.
Zombie Dice Deluxe Game
We recommend this Zombie Dice Deluxe game for older children – maybe teens – and their families! But you know your family! If you think the zombie-loving kids in your family would love this zombie dice game, go for it! It would make a fun game for teenage boys who get such a kick out of brain-eating zombies!

Part board game, part dice game, this game is recommended for ages 10 and up although some reviewers on Amazon say their younger children also enjoyed the game and picked up on the rules quickly.

This Strike dice game is suited for family members of all ages! It is a fast-paced game that keeps everyone’s adrenaline up! With short rounds – four to five minutes – even young players can keep their attentions spans in check for this roll of family fun!

One thing we have learned is that sometimes, for whatever the reason, even the best family dice games don’t work for a certain child. Little kids are unpredictable, as you probably know. Maybe the game works for older siblings or other family members, but not for a certain younger child. If this is the case, you can try to modify a good dice game into a cooperative board game where family members of different ages play in teams. Or just put that game away for another year and then try again!
Just because you stick to the recommended age on the game box, doesn’t mean your family has found the perfect dice game. Some kids need more time to develop social skills and strategic planning to meet the challenges of a particular dice game. This is really true if you are going by the minimum age range listed on a game! Sometimes young children just need to get to the right place in their development and skill level to excel at dice games.
