What Type of Potato Chips for Potato Chip Cookies?
There is a fair amount of online discussion about potato chips. What say you? Are you team wavy potato chips or team straight potato chips?
The type of potato chips you use is purely up to you. For us, we will sometimes use the plain potato chips in recipes like this we can. We prefer ruffled potato chips for snacking while the plain ones tend to stay in the pantry. But this chocolate chip potato chip cookie recipe is perfect for using those leftovers up!
The ruffled potato chips to add a nice texture into this cookie though.
Making Chocolate Chip Potato Chip Cookies
The preparation for these cookies is as simple as with any other drop and roll cookie recipes. Be sure to let your butter set out a while before you start working in the kitchen so it will be nice and soft. The problem with using the mircrowave to soften butter is that it often melts the butter into a runnier consistency than it needs to be. And then that can change the rise and spread of the cookies.
You will start with mixing the white and brown sugar with the softened butter until it is creamed. Next, add the eggs and vanilla. (See our recipe card below for exact measurements.)

Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir the mixture to combine everything well. Afterward, the potato chips and chocolate chips are added until combined.

Next, it’s time to scoop and pop our chocolate chip potato chip cookies into the fridge to firm up a bit. We like to use a medium cookie scoop. If desired, you can add a few white and chocolate chips into the tops of the cookies before baking.
After about 2 hours, pop the trays into a 350 degree oven for about 11 minutes or until they are nice and brown.
