Mummy Applesauce Pouches: Easy Halloween Snack Craft for Kids
Some Halloween projects are spooky. Some are sweet. And then there are the ones like this — so cute it’s scary! These Mummy Applesauce Pouches were a big win for us. They’re super simple to make, budget-friendly, and totally perfect for school parties, lunchbox surprises, or just a fun afternoon craft.
Plus, it doesn’t get much easier than wrapping applesauce in crepe paper and sticking on googly eyes. It’s the kind of project that even the littlest monsters in your crew can help with.

What You’ll Need to make Mummy Applesauce Pouches
To make your own army of mummy pouches, here’s what to gather:
- Individual applesauce pouches (any flavor — we usually use unsweetened Mott’s Applesauce because we’re responsible like that… sometimes)
- White crepe paper streamers
- Googly eyes
- Glue or adhesive sticky squares (either works great)
- Scissors
We found everything we needed at our local dollar store and craft store — making this a low-stress, low-mess win.
How to Wrap Your Mummies
Here’s how we turned our applesauce pouches into adorable little monsters:
- Start at the back. Grab the end of your crepe paper roll and tape or glue it to the back of the pouch.
- Wrap, wrap, wrap! Wind the crepe paper all the way around the pouch until it’s covered like a mummy. Crisscross the layers for that “bandaged” look. Don’t worry about perfection — the unevenness adds to the charm!
- Secure the end. When the pouch is fully wrapped, cut the crepe paper and secure the end on the back with a bit of tape or glue.
- Add the eyes. Use glue dots, sticky squares, or a dab of craft glue to add two googly eyes to the front of the pouch. You can space them out for a goofy look or smoosh them close together for maximum cuteness.

That’s it! Your applesauce mummy is ready to haunt the snack table.
