A Hack for our Snowman Themed Cupcakes
If you love a homemade cupcake with homemade frosting, you likely already have a favorite vanilla cupcake recipe. If you want to make the cupcakes yourself but are okay with shortcuts, save time with a box mix batter and a can of store-bought frosting.
And if you are really wanting to save time, you can opt to order unfrosted bakery cupcakes from the grocery store.
Ingredients for Melting Snowman Cupcakes
- 12 homemade or store bought vanilla cupcakes
- ½ cup unsalted butter (room temp)
- 1, 7 oz jar marshmallow fluff
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 Tbsp heavy cream
- Additional Items
- 12 marshmallow
- Red cupcake liners
- Black edible pen
- Orange food gel
- Black fondant – (To cut the top hats.)
It might actually take a time or two to get the hang of working with an edible pen or the squeeze gel, but once you figure out how much pressure to put on the pen and the squeeze tube, it will get easier!
In this recipe, the cupcake base is simple. It’s the marshmallow buttercream with adornments that is the star of the show!

- Store leftover snowman cupcakes in the fridge for up to three days for ideal taste and texture. You can also freeze them for up to three months. If you are storing already frosted cupcakes, make sure to store them in a container with enough room to make sure the presentation isn’t disturbed.

Decorating the Snowmen Cupcakes
- To decorate the cupcakes, use a black edible marker to draw eyes and mouth. Use orange food gel to create the nose.
- To make a snowman hat, roll out the black fondant to a thin layer. Using the round end of a piping tip cut out small circles for the base. In your hand, roll a small amount into a ball and slightly press down to create the top of the hat.
- When cupcakes have completely cooled, add frosting, marshmallow and hat, in that order.
