Why We Love Snowman Oreos

Snowman Oreos are a delicious winter treat and a fantastic creative outlet for cookie decorating. Your kids will have a blast designing their snowmen with unique personalities. Plus, they make for an excellent holiday activity to entertain children during the winter break.

We also love that this recipe uses silicone molds. Although baking with silicone molds is a pretty common thing these days, we don’t use our silicone molds as often as we should for no-bake treats.

Ingredients

  • 2 12-ounce bags of white candy melts
  • 20 Oreos
  • Silicone Oreo molds
  • 1 tube of black icing
  • 1 Tube of orange icing
  • 2-4 teaspoons of vegetable oil (if needed)

Making Oreo Snowman Cookies

We love baking cookies with our mom during the holiday break.

Since this is a no-bake recipe, even your youngest children can be involved in “baking” and decorating the cookies.

Norah Says…

We like to help with this recipe because it’s so simple and easy and is a break from the regular baked cookies we often make. My main job is to squeeze the icing.

Storage, Advance Prep, and Reheating Instructions

  • If you have leftover cookies, store them in an airtight container for about two weeks. Make sure to separate them using wax or parchment paper to separate the layers of cookies.
  • All ingredients in the recipe are non-perishable, so it doesn’t need to be refrigerated, making this an easy recipe to make ahead of time! You can also freeze these cookies for up to three months.

Gifting Snowman Oreos for Christmas in Gift Boxes

You can package these snowman cookies in a variety of ways. But we recommend a sturdy box in order to keep the cookies as safe as possible during transporting. Small bakery boxes with open plastic windows so the recipient can see the adorable snowman faces inside are our recommendation! It’s best to buffer the box with tissue paper or paper shreds to not only cutesy up the box but also to prevent the cookies from sliding around too much.

Recipe Tips for Snowmen Oreos

If your chocolate seems a little thick, add 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil per bag of candy melts to make a thinner consistency. Do not add water to thin out the chocolate mixture.

If you want a thick layer of chocolate surrounding the Oreo, fill the chocolate to the top of the mold. If you want a thinner layer, add less chocolate to the cookie.

If you plan to give these away as a gift or special treat, make sure you decorate using a tube of decorating icing instead of gel. The gel will not harden, and your snowmen will smudge when transported.

Substitutions and Variations for Snowman Oreos

  • Any round-packaged cookie will work for this recipe. Instead of using regular Oreos, you could use any variation of them.
  • If you want to take your snowman Oreos to the next level, attach them to lollipop sticks with a little icing for a fun Oreo pop!
  • Oreos with extra cream, such as the double stuffed, are the easiest Oreos to work with.
  • If you don’t want to use candy melts, you can also use white chocolate chips or melted white chocolate made for making treats like this.
